What We Do

Raincatcher comprises two projects, carried out side-by-side in Tabora: Tank Construction and the Training of Trainers scheme (ToT).

Tank construction

Raincatcher volunteers building a water tank in Tanzania

Every year, Raincatcher sends four to six volunteers to Tanzania to oversee the construction of a rainwater harvesting tank. These tanks range in capacity from 50 000 L to 200 000 L. Since the project’s inception, Raincatcher has made possible over a million litres of water storage in schools and community centres.

Training of Trainers

Learning about water sanitation at a local school

The Training of Trainers (ToT) scheme was conceived of for the 2012 project. It aims to put an emphasis on the continuation of the project even without continuous support from Raincatcher. Through the ToT scheme, we train locals to teach others in the community about hygiene, sanitation and how to built rainwater harvesting systems.
